Akrotiri Excavation

Uncover the myths of Santorini on a 5-hour guided tour of the Akrotiri excavations, a prehistoric Bronze Age city. During the Minoan volcanic eruption some 3,600 years ago the city was frozen in time by ash that fell. Some speculate that this is the origin of Atlantis, a mythical city lost in time. Admire the elaborate drainage system, the sophisticated multi-storied building, their magnificent wall paintings, excavated furniture and vessels that show the former settlement’s great prosperity.

The vineyards of this volcanic island use innovative farming methods to overcome the harsh environment. Grapes are coiled into a basket shape at ground level, and harvesting on Santorini is by hand.

Santorini Wineries

Continue your wine discovery by strolling through the island’s basked wineries and learn about Santorini’s unique viticulture. Visit 3 of the island’s wineries, and enjoy cellar tours of each one to see how the winemaking process unfolds. Take a walking tour around one of the volcanic vineyards to discover the grapes growing in unforgiving island conditions. Taste a selection of 12 different wine styles from across Santorini and Greece, such as Assyrtiko, Nykteri, and the sublimely sweet Vinsanto wine.

Cruise passenger pick-up

The meeting point for the tour is at the cable car’s exit in Fira town. Your guide will wait for you there, holding a sign with your name. Please note, all cruise passengers with individual programs are taken to the old Port of Fira, by tender boats. From the old port, you will take the cable car up to Fira town. The journey with a cable car takes 3 minutes and costs €6 EUR. Approximate start of the tour should be 90 minutes after the scheduled arrival of the cruise ship.
