Emporio Village
Emporio is the largest village in Santorini, located in the southern part of the island, at a distance of 9.7 kilometers from Fira town. It is built at the foot of the Mt Prophet Ilias. The village was named Emporio because in the past it was the center of commercial Affairs.
The great attraction of the village of Emporio is the medieval Kastel, one of the five fortified castles of Santorini. Inside the castle is a church built in the sixteenth century. Nearby is Goulas, a square building that was used as a watchtower and refuge.
